Lost Is the New Found
How the Shared Experience of Feeling Lost Brings You Home.
Did you ever have a moment when something opens up and you can’t stop crying?
It’s a bit of a standing joke that anyone who’s ever driven with me knows I’ll eventually miss a turn and need to reroute.
I’m sure this inability to follow directions didn’t make it any easier the first time I laid eyes on a labyrinth and prepared to enter.
Needless to say, I was not prepared for the intense emotions bubbling up as I carefully threaded my way around each loop. The circular pattern on the floor mat below my feet defied me. I’d get closer to the center, only to realize I was actually getting farther away.
And that’s when it hit: the enormity of my life situation at the time.
I knew what I wanted, and I had absolutely no idea how to get it. I was at a crossroads with no map in sight, and the grief of never finding it felt unbearable.
Sometimes, life feels just like that.
So let me ask you this question: Have you ever felt like you’re lost and can’t find your way back to the center?
I can assure you that you’re not alone. It’s like trying to untangle a knot. The harder you try, the tighter the strands lock together.
And you know what I’ve witnessed, time and time again?
The moment you throw up your hands and say, “I can’t find my way through this,” something deep shifts within you.
You start to breathe in a new way. You feel the ground under your feet. There’s a sense of quiet below the chatter of your mind.
That U-turn brings you right to the center of your very own heart.
And that arrival might be your sweetest homecoming yet.
